Great BEER!!! That's what you want in a brewery, right?! Their flagship brown ale is the best I've had! I had a quick flight and wasn't disappointed once :)

Try the velvet underbrown beer. It's delicious. The bartenders are kind of mean and inattentive though.

The beer is good enough for five stars - but the food makes this place better than most in St. Louis. The BBQ is delicious, and please, for the love of all that is pure, get the chili and beer bread. The rock and roll theme and rockin tunes are just icing on the cake.

I was in town on business. I didn't feel like dealing with Side Project's pretentousness and wanted to try somewhere new. Overall, the beer was good, but in terms of craft beer, the beer was pretty average. The menu showcased a wide range of styles, which is accommodating, but also concerning as I got "jack of all trades, master of none" feeling from them. I had a couple of their IPAs. One was a West Coast style IPA that reminded me of SNPA, with standard west coast earthy-piney hops. Another was a hazy; that one was drinkable, but I wouldn't order again. My last beer was their dark raspberry sour. Again, it wasn't a bad beer, but nothing I'd order again. Atmosphere was pretty much your standard low-budget brewery with a guitar theme. It wasn't quite a warehouse setting, but it could've been. Food is described as BBQ, but it's not what you tend to think of when you think BBQ. It was more like smoked meats. Food was actually pretty good.

Great brews and a great atmosphere. I highly recommend this even in the crowded STL craft brew market. They're doing the trendy things better than everyone else (NE IPA, Milkshake IPA) and the standards are great too (APA, Brown ale). Playing Vampire Weekend, Rush, and Spoon back to back to back doesn't hurt either.

Beer is decent and not a bad place to have a beer. But, it's the vibe that makes it lose a star as it just does not feel as good as my favorites in Saint Louis.

A friend had recommended Heavy Riff before and finally checked them out. I really enjoyed the beer. Didn't have dinner, but their spent grains beer bread is a winner. Looking forward to heading back for dinner some time soon.

Gave it 2 stars because the place looks cool, but the bartenders didn't look up to greet me and my friend. All we wanted was a beer had tables but no servers the whole bar area was full so in order to get a drink. I assume you have to know one of the 3 bartenders to get their attention or ask a stranger to move or squeeze between people to get the bartenders attention.I suggest you work on greeting People when they are standing there looking at you with no drink in their hand.Or get servers who actually pay attention to who is coming in.I dont normally post bad reviews but your service sucked

Great variety of beer on tap, both their own brew and a bunch of other microbrews from all over. Not so noisy, so you can talk pretty easily with the people at your table. Dedicated parking lot, plus plenty of street parking. They have menus on the tables so you can order take out from the nearby restaurants. They'd get 5 stars if there was a runner available to get the food.

We ate at Heavy Riff on a Saturday night before a Blues game. The atmosphere was good and the service was prompt and friendly. Both the food and drinks came out quickly and as ordered. I tried the rueben and my wife the Verde Chili. Both were delicious but overshadowed by the beer bread and flavored spreads that was incredibly yummy. The variety and quality of beers was awesome as well. They also had plenty of table games and shuffleboard available as well as several big screen tvs to keep you entertained if you wanted to hang out longer.

Amazing food, the brisket and pineapple cornbread really hit the spot. The quality of food is excellent, service is fast. As you would expect, limited menu size.Had the Oktoberfest beer, taste not an issue but $6 for 15oz is a bit much. You can get a growler, but that's the largest draft size.Overall, great food, good beer; together it is a great combination. However, if I just wanted to drink or eat, this would not be my first choice.

Fantastic craft beer with unique offerings. The Norwegian IPA Living Daylights hosts a yeast not found at any other brewery in St Louis. The pineapple Daisy Glaze is the perfect balance between fruit and hops. The food is also delicious, I highly recommend the Chili Verde over Pineapple Cornbread, and the Hawaiian Smoked Pork Salad. Cool interior with no table service, just go to the bar and grab a cold one!

Great food! Great craft beer! Most of their food has a little spice(hot) to it. If you can't handle it just be careful of what you order. Beer bread and spreads were amazing. The only reason why I gave it 4/5 stars was because they don't serve to the table. All orders have to go through the bartender. I normally don't care for vanilla coffee stouts. But if you like coffee try it... delicious.

Heavy Riff is one of my favorite breweries. Since the day they opened, they’ve consistently delivered mouth-watering brews. Try the Velvet Underbrown, original, Vanilla Bean, coffee, Barrel Aged, or if you’re lucky, the Cherry Chocolate variation we had around Valentine’s Day. Outstanding! The food is great, too. Love their smoked corn beef Reuben :)

This place is an absolute gem. The walls are adorned with classic rock (60's-80's) memorabilia and concert posters. They couple this with era appropriate music over the speakers made for a fantastic atmosphere. The crowd skews 35+ but a few younger patrons were present. Now! The beers..... amazing. They had 4 sours, which was perfect for our tastes and honestly I couldn't decide which I liked more they were all fantastic. Will definitely be returning.

Great chill vibe with a rock and classic rock theme. The tap handles we're all made to look like guitar heads. The bartender was very attentive and the owner was there selling beers over the bar as well. They didn't have stickers yet but the owner went and found us something to suffice. Great experience that I would recommend to anyone looking for a good beer in STL.

Was pleasantly surprised about this place. The food was really good and different to the traditional St Louis bar menu so don't expect wings and toasted ravioli in this place. But what you get are great salads, nachos and the very tasty and surprised hit the spent grain beer bread. The service was quick and the beers good. Worth the visit.

Just had a great smoked bacon wrapped meatloaf! It had a nice spicy kick and smooth smokey flavor to it, it was a special so not sure if they have it often or not. The peach IPA was also excellent, just a hint of peach and not overpowering. No table service, but food and drinks actually came out really fast. I will be back!

The beer is good but the name of this place is deceiving. No heavy riffs were heard. Blink 182. Seriously?Updated to respond to owners:Ah, I see the error. I am well versed in music theory and didn't realize you were using it in that manner. I am also well versed in heavy metal and the term heavy riff is used to describe drop D tuned guitar hooks. I'm not sure if you are familiar with the term "hooks". I would describe a heavy riff in this sense by suggesting a listen to Black Sabbath.
